Does school prepare us for life?

School prepares us for some things in life, but not for all of them. It tries to tell us that if we get good grades and follow the rules we will later succeed in adult life. Unfortunately it isn't always true. Grades usually don't reflect our skills, talents or knowledge, so in reality people who get average grades can be more successful than the ones who are teachers' favourites. However, school can teach us some of the important things like being punctual and having to cope with stress. It shows us that life can be hard and that we have to work hard to achieve our goals. School tries to prepare us for life, but there are still a lot of things that we have to learn on our own.

    For some reason I expected you would be much more critical about school. But after all it does teach you something, doesn't it?

Contemporary dance combines many different styles of dance including jazz, modern, lyrical and ballet. The moves in contemporary might seem weird sometimes, but in my opinion it looks very interesting and I enjoy watching it.  This style, unlike ballet doesn't have strict rules. Instead of graceful moves, precision and perfect technique you will see a lot of improvisation and floor work. Probably the most important part of contemporary is freedom of movement which allows to express feelings. The choreography is fluid and it can be performed to different styles of music, it can be fast, slow or whatever the choreographer wants. It's often done barefoot and the feet don't have to be always pointed like in ballet, they might be for example flexed. Reflection #4

About a week ago I went to the cinema with my friend to see a new horror film. It turned out to be quite bad and most of the scenes that were supposed to scare us were so stupid that it was funny. Some people were laughing quietly, however, there were these 2 girls who apparently wanted to show how cool they were by laughing so loudly that every single pearson in the room could hear them. I don’t understand why they went to the cinema instead of watching a film at home if they can’t stay quiet for 2 hours.

Reflection #6

I am definitely a night owl. I enjoy staying up until 3am and waking up at 11. On weekdays I try to go to bed a bit earlier in order to wake up at 6:30. However, when I have to be at school at such an early hour I am always exhausted. I’ve noticed that I don't feel any difference between sleeping 4 and 6 hours. I know that lack of sleep could affect my health, but in my case it's impossible to feel well rested after waking up at 6:30. In my opinion it's way too early to start lessons at 8, it should be at least 9. I'm sure that this extra hour of sleep would help us all focus on the lesson better.
